Insurance, Life Insurance Premiums Reduced – Really Reduced

You pay a lot less for term life insurance today than you would 20 years ago.
A couple of weeks ago I picked up a rate book from one of the finest and largest life insurance companies in the industry. I was just scanning the pages and it occurred to me that the term insurance premiums looked really high. I decided to do a comparison between todays premiums and the premiums of yesteryear. The results were quite surprising.
Although I was very aware that term life insurance premiums had been lowered considerably by insurance companies I was not aware that the difference was so great. The premiums for the year 2007 are one third of those for 1987 in many a case and in some cases as little as a quarter of the 1987 costs. That is a dramatic change. Why is this?
I am not an actuary or a statistician but based on what has occurred in the industry over that time period it would seem that the rise in demand for term insurance has dramatically affected the cost. Everyone wants term insurance now. Some people are aware that they may need to convert to a permanent policy later on but there are those who have no intention of buying any other type of insurance.
I will not debate the correctness of thinking of either side at this point as this article is really intended to emphasize the great reduction in term premium rates. I do think, however, I should touch on which policies are the ones people tend to buy most and why. this is for the benefit of the reader.
The 10 year, 20 year and 30 year term policies tend to be the most purchased…the 20 year term policy being the most outstanding. Round and about age 30 or may be age 35 you find yourself in a pretty solid financial position. You have achieved some measure of success. May be you are already married or, on the other hand, may be you are thinking about it. You want to have children and it occurs to you that you will need some life insurance. You think, why not buy it now while you can still get your policy at a low rate and while you can still qualify. With these plans in mind you find the 20 year or 30 year term policies could fit your need nicely.
If for some reason you had found financial stability a little later in life and your children are in their teens you may feel the 10 year term policy would be ideal.
Regardless of your situation now you will find that later on you need to buy additional life insurance. Your term policies may be about to expire. In any case they will expire at some time. If you are still in good health you can start a new term life insurance policy at a higher premium than that of your original policy.
On the other hand, life insurance companies allow you to convert your term policy within a specific period. If you are still within that period you can convert to a permanent policy. A good policy to use would be a universal life policy. I suggest this because of it’s flexibility. You can also convert to whole life but this will mean a higher premium.
All in all there is no reason why anyone who needs life insurance today shouldn’t own a policy. The premiums are so low.

Insurance, Travel Insurance Claims Increase For Lost Luggage

Figures released by the Association of European Airlines (AEA) have shown that over two thousand claims for lost luggage were made during the first six months of last year alone. This was an 85% increase on the same period of time for the previous year, with the average claim being made for over £200.
Lost luggage is now top of the list for travel insurance claims with airlines losing a record amount of baggage daily. Insurance experts only expect these figures to rise, as managing director of Insureandgo, Perry Wilson warns, “We have seen an enormous rise in claims for lost luggage and can unfortunately expect more families’ holidays to be ruined by lost baggage.”
British Airways came in for particular criticism after it was announced that the airline was responsible for the loss of over one million bags last year, the second worst airline in Europe for lost belongings behind TAP Air Portugal.
AEA revealed that BA had lost 26.5 bags for every 1,000 passengers that had flown with them. This is a rise on the previous year of 23 bags for every 1000 passengers.
Ryanair, the budget airline claimed to have losses of only 0.4 bags per 1000 passengers, although many of their customers decide not to check in their bags because of the charge for each item.
Peter Sherrard, a Ryanair spokesman says their passengers should be given lower insurance premiums as a result, “For years the car insurance industry has provided discounts for lower-risk categories such as women drivers and the over-thirties. The time has come for passengers flying with airlines that deliver the best customer service to enjoy the same discounts.”
Britain’s biggest airline, BA, had admitted to having a 22,000 item backlog and that it was flying airplanes full of delayed bags across the Atlantic as well as using a convoy of vans to take luggage across Europe.
Aviation watchdogs have asked for the European Commission to introduce a league table showing the best and worst performing airline companies. It is not currently compulsory for airlines to release their annual records and this saw Virgin Atlantic and Aer Lingus failing to provide their figures for last year.
The Air Transport Users Council (AUC) has partly attributed the climb in lost luggage to the increased levels of hold luggage seen in UK airports such as Heathrow, as a result of the one-bag rule brought in to operation following the recent terror attacks.
AUC chairman Tina Tietien said, “Whatever the extenuating circumstances, when passengers hand their bag in at check-in, they should expect to see their bag at the other end.”
Despite the obvious inconvenience and stress that missing baggage can have on travellers, adequate insurance should offer a certain amount of confidence if the worst should happen. However, a survey carried out by Legal and General showed that the average value of luggage and contents for a family of four off on holiday is over £2,500, and that many home contents insurance policies should provide necessary cover for families and individuals holidaying away from home.
Head of GI products at Legal and General, Andy Dellbridge confirmed, “We automatically think of claiming under a travel policy but customers may be covered under the personal possessions section of their home insurance policy. It seems more important than ever that holidaymakers check they do have insurance cover in place.”

Insurance, Investing in life settlement is a wise decision

Investing in life settlement is not something that everyone will just do, till they know about the various benefits that this can bring to them. Life settlement is a financial transaction which can benefit the person who is opting for this solution, as well as the person who will act as the broker in this. In life settlement, a policy owner sells off the policy to a third party and receives a lump sum amount for the same. The selling price of the life insurance policy is done at a price that is more than the cash value offered by the insurance company. This is a very good option for all those people, who have retired from work and are in need of liquid cash to take care of their needs post retirement. After retirement, it is natural for them to be short on money and this can make it difficult for the insurance holder to pay all the premiums.
Once the broker i.e. the third party, buys the insurance from the original policy holder, he is responsible for paying all the premiums on the insurance policy. Only senior citizens, who are above the age of sixty five years, are eligible for taking a life insurance settlement and of course, they need to have a life insurance policy or any other insurance policy in their name to get the money through this settlement. Investing in life settlement is gaining popularity day by day, as this is one means which insures that life after retirement does not get complicated and difficult. Money is one need, which is constant in our life, no matter what our age is or where we stay. So it is very important that we make all arrangements, so that we do not face a money crunch at any time.
Investing in life settlement solution can turn out to be complex option for any senior citizen if they are not properly educated about this. There are several sources through which one can gather all the information that they need about life settlement solution and internet is one of the most reliable sources. Some of the other sources for gathering information about this are accountants, CPAs, estate planners, attorneys, charitable trust officers and others. You must make sure that you talk with any of these professionals before you sell your insurance policy for investing in a life settlement from your broker.
It is very important to make sure that you are dealing with a genuine broker. There have been instances, when people have been duped by fraud brokers. It will be best if you can do some background study about the broker with whom you are going to deal. The background study will give you an idea about how he does his work and based on that, you can decide if you want to deal with the broker or not. There are so many advantages associated with investing in life settlement that you will find that more and more people are opting for this.

Insurance, Homeowners Insurance Comparisons – Where to Get the Best Rate

Looking for homeowners insurance comparisons? Want to know where to compare quotes and get a cheap rate quickly and easily? Read on …
What is homeowners insurance?
Homeowners insurance covers more than just your home. It also covers your personal possessions and protects you from personal liability lawsuits. Here’s what it covers:
* Your home – Homeowners coverage pays to repair or rebuild your home after it’s been damaged or destroyed by storms, fire, plumbing leaks, and vandalism. Damage from flooding or earthquakes is not covered under standard policies, so if you live in an area where you need these coverages you must purchase them separately.
* Your personal property – Homeowners insurance will replace your personal property, such as clothes, furniture, appliances, and electronics, when they’re stolen or when they’re damaged by fire, vandalism, storms, and plumbing leaks. Expensive items like jewelry or computers may not be covered under standard policies, but you can increase your coverage on these items if you need to.
* Your assets – If someone hurts himself on your property and sues you, your homeowners policy will pay damages awarded to him by the court, plus your legal fees and court costs.
* Your additional living expenses – If your home is damaged or destroyed and needs to be repaired or rebuilt, you’ll be compensated for your additional living expenses (hotel bills, restaurant bills, etc.) if you need to live elsewhere.

Insurance, Cheap Sports Car Insurance – Where to Get It

Insurance for sports cars costs a lot more than for other types of cars, so you want to get the best price you can. Here’s how to get cheap sports car insurance.
Why do sports cars cost more to insure?
Sports cars cost more to insure because …
* They’re generally more expensive than regular cars and therefore cost more to repair or replace.
* Because they’re more expensive they’re more likely to be stolen.
* Sports car owners rack up more mileage than average drivers and are therefore more likely to be involved in an accident.
How much coverage should I get?
Most states require you to have personal liability insurance and property liability insurance. Personal liability insurance pays for hospital bills and lost wages for the people you hurt in an accident. Property liability insurance pays for the damage you cause to their property.
Liability insurance is relatively cheap, but it does not pay for your medical bills, lost wages, or repairs to your car. If you want to fully protect yourself and your car you need the following coverages:
Collision and comprehensive coverage – Collision coverage pays to repair or replace your car when it’s been damaged or destroyed in an accident, or when you hit an object such as a tree or an animal. Comprehensive coverage pays to repair or replace your car when it’s been stolen or it’s been damaged by fire, vandalism, or acts of nature
You can significantly lower your collision and comprehensive coverage by raising your deductible – the amount of money you pay toward a claim before your insurer will pay.
Personal injury protection - This pays for your and your passengers medical bills and lost wages when you’re involved in an accident, no matter who was at fault. It also covers you and your family members if you’re hit by a car while walking.
You probably don’t need PIP coverage if you have health insurance.
Uninsured motorist coverage – This coverage pays for your medical bills and repairs to your car if you’re hit by an uninsured, underinsured, or hit-and-run driver.
You should carry at least the minimum amount of underinsured motorist coverage in case you’re involved in an accident and can’t locate the driver who ran into you, or he or she doesn’t have insurance.
Where can I get cheap sports car insurance?
In order to get the best rate you need to do a little research and check out prices from different companies. The quickest way to do that is at an insurance comparison website.

Insurance, Free Credit Report

In the USA you have a right to one free credit report each year, though there is no point in getting a credit report if you don’t know what to use it for.
Your free credit report will provide you with a lot of information regarding the credit agreements you have entered into, and their current and past status. It will also tell you what searches into your credit record have been carried out, by which companies and when.
Many of these will be pre-approved credit card searches that are becoming increasingly common. Ironically, even if you apply for a pre-approved card you can still be rejected if your credit score is too low at the time of application. If you have applied for other forms of credit, such as a mail order catalogue, these searches will also be listed.
Your credit score is of much more interest to lenders, since it is a numerical figure calculated on a number of variables that let’s lenders know how much of a credit risk you are. It is a snapshot figure of your credit-worthiness at the time it is requested. While a bad repayment record in your credit report will be with it for seven years, your credit score can be improved over the short term. There are things that can be done to do this, and although they are not easy to achieve, many people are able to repair their credit score in a relatively short period time.
However, that is another topic, and has been introduced to exemplify the difference between a numerical credit score and a credit report that is nothing more than a database of your credit record. The objective of this article is to provide you with information on how to go about getting your own free credit report, and also to provide you with a link on how to understand the report and improve your credit score.
Do not believe those that try to persuade you that repairing your credit score is easy, because it is not, but it can be done. Most financial advice is provided by lenders or others involved in the industry, but mine is based on the personal experience of somebody that is currently in the process of trying to repair his own credit record, and who owed many thousands to credit card companies.
I am well aware of what a credit report is, and pay a subscription to Experian so that I can access my credit record at any time. Even with the subscription, I still have to pay for my credit score. Therefore, your credit score and credit report are separate entities. However, there are things that you do to have certain records removed from your credit report, and that will in turn improve your credit score.
“Charge Offs” are debts that have been written off by banks and financial institutions as not recoverable, and are the worst type of record to have on your report. If these appear on your free credit record then it might be possible to agree a partial repayment with the bank in return for the record being removed. Sometimes financial institutions will accept this deal if it is the only way they are going to get some of their money back. However, this does not always work since they will generally not be willing to discuss the matter with you.
These records will also disappear after 7 years, so unless you have a pressing need for credit within 7 years of the default appearing on your record, you could wait and then check your credit report to make sure it has gone. If not, then request that it is.
Other uses for your credit report including ensuring that the debt is yours: it is not unknown for the debt of another person to appear on your credit record. Somebody might have used your address to get credit, and it is the address that matters here, not the name. An adjunct to that is that if somebody living in your home, such as a paying guest, has bad credit, then it will appear on your credit report. In such cases you have to inform the credit report agency that the person is not financially dependent on you, and demand that the record be removed. That is your legal right.
Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) you can challenge any entry in your free credit report if you feel it is inaccurate. The credit bureaus that hold your records must then request confirmation of the information from the original creditor, and if that has not been provided within 30 days then the record must be removed. It is often not enough for the creditor simply to confirm the record, but to provide evidence that it is accurate. I have had more than one record removed this way.
Your free credit report, then, is important to you, but you have to know what to do with it. However, be realistic and understand that perhaps only time can help your credit report. However, your credit score might be easier to improve, especially if you can get a loan such as a bad credit mortgage that, although you will be paying a higher interest rate, will do wonders for your credit score if you maintain your payments.
The three major credit agencies are Experian, Equifax and Trans Union and you have the right to request any of them for a free credit report within 60 days of being refused credit, and also a further free report every year. The company refusing you credit must inform you which agency they used.
Pete is highly experienced in handling credit problems and his webpage http://www.principal-finance.com/credit-report.html provides information on your rights, and also how to understand your credit report and repair your credit score.

Insurance, How Investors Define Whole Life Insurance

Most investors define whole life insurance as a permanent form of life insurance that offers certain guaranteed benefits, as well as a guaranteed amount of cash available to the holder or beneficiary. These policies offer premiums of a set amount throughout a person’s life. Usually, the cost does not increase as the person ages.
Some people purchase whole life insurance as an investment. They pay a set amount of money each month, knowing that the premiums will be invested to earn interest. The interest earned through these premiums will be added to the value of the insurance policy until it reaches the cash value purchased by that person.
On occasion, people need extra money. Those who have whole life insurance policies can borrow against the current cash value of the policy. If they do not repay the amount before the policy is surrendered, the person or beneficiaries will receive the value of the policy less the amount that has been borrowed.
Sometimes, people need the money before the policy becomes payable. In this case, they can choose to cash in the policy and receive the cash value of the policy on demand. The insurer, in effect, purchases the policy back from the holder, and no further money will be paid to the policyholder in the future.
For example, a person may choose to purchase a life insurance policy for $1 million. The monthly premium may be $25. The premium will remain $25 throughout that person’s life, as long as he or she holds the policy. The premium will be re-invested by the insurance company so that the person will eventually build a cash value of $1 million.
In some cases, a person will die before the policy is completely paid for by the premium. Then, the beneficiaries would still receive $1 million. They would not be penalized because of the person’s early death.
Sometimes, however, the person chooses to cash in or borrow against the value before it is completely financed through premiums. In this case, he or she will receive only the policy’s cash value. If it is exchanged for its cash value, only the amount of money earned by payment of premiums to that date is available.
Many people find it difficult to define whole life insurance. The concept, however, isn’t too hard to understand. This is a guaranteed way to invest a set amount of money, receive a guaranteed return on the value of your investment. http://www.WholeLifeInsuranceAdvice101.com is a website fully devoted to giving the very best information on whole life insurance and much more, such as how to define whole life insurance Everything you need to know, we have you covered!
